Wow, it doesn’t get much more ironic than this. Chris Matthews of MSNBC, infamous for his comments about a tingling feeling in his leg after listening to Obama speak and on multiple occasions has insinuated that Obama’s impact will be Jesus-like:

“I’ve been following politics since I was about 5,” said Mr. Matthews. “I’ve never seen anything like this. This is bigger than Kennedy. [Obama] comes along, and he seems to have the answers. This is the New Testament. This is surprising.”

Now, Matthews warns of charismatic leaders in his continued slamming of Sarah Palin.

Ed Morrissey of Hot Air provides us with some commentary and a video mix showing Matthews hypocritical attack on Palin:

Matthews actually warns Robinson that “Charismatic leaders have done this country and this world a lot of harm,” apparently oblivious to his own track record over the last two years in being Barack Obama’s number-one fanboy.

Of course, we don’t forget it, and I’ve mashed this up with a couple of highlights from Matthews’ career as a journalist in the Age of Obama:

It is amazing that what is supposed to be a serious news organization continues to employ such partisan hacks that make zero pretense of being objective in their news coverage.

Anybody wondering why MSNBC’s ratings are falling through the floor? Didn’t think so.

Yesterday, we covered Keith Olbermann’s nonsensical Monday night rant, where he lashed out at Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and others. Not only did he go on about how there is no liberal media bias, but he also went on to say “comparing them to disease gives disease a bad name.”

Another night and another Olbermann tirade (anyone else think he should have kept that Sportscenter job?). Last night he lashed out at Joe Lieberman calling him an embarrassment and suggesting Lieberman should resign over his position on the proposed health care bill.

Tonight, CBS showed they are clearly on the media-bias bandwagon in attacking Joe Lieberman for simply doing his job.

Newsbusters breaks down the latest rants:

A night after MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann demanded Senator Joe Lieberman “just resign already” as he shrieked “you are embarrassing humanity!”, CBS joined in targeting Connecticut’s “independent Democrat” for daring to oppose liberals on health care. “He holds the 60th vote needed to get the health care reform bill passed in the Senate,” anchor Katie Couric intoned, “and Nancy Cordes tells us supporters of reform are angry and confused about Lieberman’s position.”

Cordes soon expanded the exasperation to include “Democratic Senators Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln and Ben Nelson” who “successfully blocked the public option even though the other 55 Democrats support it. Nelson is still holding out for stricter anti-abortion language, leading some liberals to complain their agenda is being hijacked by a few.” She demanded of Lieberman: “Does it trouble you that you’re going against an overwhelming majority of your caucus?” (Hard to imagine a CBS reporter ever scolding a more liberal Republican for defying the party’s conservative majority.)

A frustrated Cordes concluded: “So this small group of four or so Senators has managed successfully to impose their will on the other 530 members of Congress because the changes that they’re demanding to the Senate bill will likely have to be made to the House bill, too.”

In a court of law, they often use the “reasonable person” test. Would a “reasonable person” reach a certain conclusion? Can any reasonable person read or watch the CBS and MSNBC reports of the last three days and honestly claim that these reporters’ liberal bias is not only clouding their ability to be unbiased, but is showing in their venomous reports?

Under the heading of “does it get more ironic than this”, Keith Olbermann who was removed as the MSNBC co-anchor during the 2008 general election, because of the backlash over his and Chris Matthews partisan reporting, has now declared there is no media bias. It’s all conservative whining over nothing.

Newsbusters recaps Olbermann’s Monday evening rant:

On MSNBC’s Dec. 14 broadcast of “Countdown,” Olbermann came to the defense of NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” executive producer and noted left-winger Dick Wolf. The Dec. 9 episode of Wolf’s program featured a killer who targeted the children of illegal immigrants and in that episode, one of the characters, played by John Larroquette, blamed conservatives “like Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck” for inciting violence against immigrants. That prompted O’Reilly on Dec. 10, the next broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” to fire back at Wolf.
…

“Well, fortunately, the slandering of Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly and Bernard Goldberg is about to come to an end,” Olbermann said. “Mercifully and finally, the liberal media is going to get theirs. Having succeeded in making those on his side of the politics look like the most gullible, paranoid folks on the planet by pimping those high school humor-quality ACORN videos, a man named Breitbart, and again the name seems to be meant ironically, is founding a website with which he will quote, ‘Fight the mainstream media, who have repeatedly and under the guise of objectivity and political neutrality promoted a blatantly left-of-center, pro-Democratic Party agenda.’”

…

“Let me give them two windmills to tilt at to start with – there is no liberal media!” Olbermann said. “The media which is, after all, owned by corporations naturally leans to the right. Corporations, by definition, lean to the right, towards the status quo. If an American media outlet presents a progressive point of view, the right will exploit the media’s tendency to desperately seek balance. If the progressive says, ‘No, Obama was elected president last year,’ they will mindlessly put in a clip of somebody from the right saying, ‘No, he wasn’t. It didn’t happen.’”

…
“The second thing I already mentioned, in the Tiller, Pittsburgh, and Knoxville cases, Beck, Goldberg and O’Reilly clearly incited murderous violence,” Olbermann said. “And Dick Wolf was being over-the-top by comparing Beck, O’Reilly and Limbaugh to disease, because comparing them to disease gives disease a bad name.”

Head over Newsbusters to read the rest of Olbermann’s nonsensical rant.
