Neil Stevens predicted Romney would win by 10. Nate Silver predicted Romney would win by 15. According to CNN’s early exits, the margin of victory for Romney may be unexpecedly small tonight. Click the box to join the discussion or join in the comments! Florida Results CoveritLive

On Tuesday, for the second time in two weeks, CNN’s Soledad O’Brien insisted that President Bush, not President Obama, is the “food stamp president” – even though data show her argument is ridiculous. On January 19, O’Brien had opened up that “it was George Bush who was the food stamp president.” Then on Tuesday, she stated that Bush oversaw a greater percent increase of food stamp recipients than Obama has, and thus was more deserving of the title “food stamp president.” However, the number of Americans on food stamps reached an all time high …

Posted by The P/Oed Patriot Exit polling is showing that Romney, now at 49%, is very close to attaining the 53% needed to claim a majority in Florida. If Romney’s lead turns out to be accurate and continues he will earn all 50 of Florida’s delegates. There doesn’t appear to be any hope for Gingrich, who is only at 33%, since the polls close at 7PM EST in most of Florida and the polls in the more conservative panhandle close at 8PM EST. Even if Romney…

I posted a reader poll yesterday on the video of the U.S. Park Police officer tasing an OccupyDC protester, and the responses are fascinating. With about 2,000 votes , opinion is almost exactly evenly divided. 43% say the officer acted appropriately; 41% say the officer did not act appropriately; and 16% say that they need more information before deciding. The comment thread is equally divided, with over 300 comments so far. Why is opinion so divided? My pet hypothesis is that most people recognize two competing narratives when it comes to police-citizen interaction. The first narrative is what you might call the equality narrative. The equality narrative posits that the police are just citizens who happen to wear uniforms, and they have no more right to get …

Or Romney. Lot of caveats there. Big Government claims sources inside someone’s camp who says their exit polls, for whatever they count, show a Romney win. It is what it is. It’s data. Sort of. Romney 47% Gingrich 34% Santorum…

The tents may be gone but there are other things that are still, er, lingering . Via Charlotte TV station WCNC : CHARLOTTE, N.C.– A haz-mat crew with the Charlotte Fire Department was called to 600 East Trade Street, the site of the Occupy Charlotte movement, on Tuesday morning. City workers who had been cleaning the area noticed toilet paper on top of a storm water grate that drains into a nearby creek. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and city officials believe some protesters have been using the drain as a toilet. “We’re looking at the environmental impact on the stream down there with the wildlife, and things like that,” said Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Dulin. “Plus the water goes downstream for other people to drink further down. But again, we’re just trying to cover all our …

[Posted by Karl] Polls don’t close for a while — and afafik, full exit polls won’t be available until then. But Drudge leaked an early exit poll topline, which may or may not be reliable, as anyone who suffered through 2000 (or 2004 for that matter) knows. Some exit poll data is flowing at TIME , the NYT and CBS News . I’m seeing CNN exits on Twitter, which I’ll briefly summarize here. 52% voting in GOP primary were men, 48% women. 34% said they are “very conservative”, 37% “somewhat conservative”, 30% “moderate or liberal.” 66% support the tea party. 15% of GOP voting electorate today is …

Newt Gingrich’s campaign, which closed out 2011 with $2.1 million to its name while carrying over a million dollars in debt , still owes $1,666.66 to Rick Tyler — the former Gingrich aide who now runs a “super PAC” supporting his candidacy. Figuring out a way to pay off the $1,666.66 debt owed to Tyler for “strategic consulting” might be a bit awkward since the Gingrich campaign isn’t allowed to coordinate with Tyler’s Winning Our Future “super PAC.” While Gingrich’s campaign didn’t pay off Tyler and still owes a company over $350,000 for private jet rides that made up much…

From my most recent NRO article , on the president’s speech last week: “I cannot have been the only person who found President Obama’s State of the Union message and much of the indulgence of it, even by serious commentators, worrisome. The president was correct that “too many of our institutions have let us down.” He seemed not to recognize that first among them were the administration (especially the presidency), the Congress, and the Supreme Court — the speaker and the audience for the occasion (apart from the justices

From the diaries by Neil Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board has been a poster child for dysfunction for a while now and even still this supposedly non-partisan agency never ceases to amaze with its inexplicable behavior. In December, a GAB representative said that Mickey Mouse or Adolph Hitler could sign a recall petition and it would pass their initial review. A judge literally had to order the Board to actually look for fraud instead of putting a rubber stamp on recall petitions. What the GAB is doing now is beyond the …

For those of us who remember the 90s, you know Dan Burton was one of the key progenitors of The Crazy. Long before there was a Michele Bachmann or any of today’s crew, there was Dan Burton shooting a dead pig in the head to see how Vince Foster might have been ‘murdered’ or was it Ron Brown. Burton announced today that he’s leaving Congress. But we’re living his greatest moments here . And they’re pretty great. Or awful. Actually both.

For years and years, the Susan G. Komen Foundation has pointlessly given money to Planned Parenthood, despite the fact that Planned Parenthood’s claims regarding breast exams have been exposed as wildly exaggerated. Today, after years of work by pro-life activists, that ends : NEW YORK (AP) — The nation’s leading breast-cancer charity, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is halting its partnerships with Planned Parenthood affiliates — creating a bitter rift, linked to the abortion debate, between two iconic organizations that have assisted millions of women. The change will mean a cutoff of hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants, mainly for breast exams. Planned Parenthood says the move results from Komen bowing to pressure from anti-abortion activists. Komen says the key reason is that Planned Parenthood is under investigation in…

Javier Manjarres is reporting that A llen West has announced that he is switching Congressional districts , from FL-22 ( which was drawn to doom him ) to FL-16. I don’t know the particulars of that district since it has been redrawn but it used to be one of the safest GOP seats in the country (and is now infamous for having two consecutive congressmen resign in disgrace in the face of criminal probes). Too early to tell whether West will face a serious primary challenge as the current incumbent is also moving to another district. Meanwhile, the question of who was responsible for turning FL-22 into a Democrat sinkhole continues to swirl. I’ve had folks who are involved in Florida politics tell me that Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolous was responsible as payback for West refusing to…

Posted By The P/Oed Patriot According to an article on The Sacramento Bee , the great progressive state of California will be broke by early March: “California will run out of cash by early March if the state does not take swift action to find $3.3 billion through payment delays and borrowing, according to a letter state Controller John Chiang sent to state lawmakers today. The announcement is surprising since lawmakers previously believed the state had enough cash to last through the fiscal year that ends in June.” The reason given for this sudden shortfall in funds is that the courts have blocked some cuts and some expected savings may appear later in the fiscal year than expected. Or could it just be that the progressive nanny state of California spends way too much freaking money? You
