RedState Morning Briefing November 30, 2011 Go to www.RedStateMB.com to get the Morning Briefing every morning at no charge. This is not worth a full post, so I just want to put it here. In the past 24 hours, I’ve had a lot of people ask why so many Herman Cain supporters would abandon him over this adultery allegation and not the harassment stuff. Well, it’s because people didn’t really believe the harassment stuff. But what’s more, a lot of these same people are wondering why people would jump from Cain over this adultery stuff to Gingrich who is on his third wife, having cheated on Wife 1 with Wife 2 and cheated on …

Democrats advocate Game Show Government. “Vote for us, and we’ll give away cash and prizes. We’ll send you a check!” Now our checks are no good because our account is overdrawn.

One of the most foolish ventures ever conceived is unraveling now. It would be a joke if it weren’t tragic.

No one can say that Germany elevated to a first-among-equals status in Europe is the opening of a Pandora’s Box, but it may be. It most certainly would set Europe on the road toward German hegemony.

He is the king of flip-flops, the emperor of hypocrisy, the czar of opinions a mile wide and an inch deep. Mitt Romney? Not by a long shot.

“It takes a village to raise a child,” as noted and self-proclaimed progressive Hillary Clinton advocates, and according to this mindset, the “village” should have not only the right, but the duty to save the child from irresponsible parents’ hands.

In a very real way, his comment puts the entire presidency of Barack Obama into context.

Another week, another Paul Krugman article trumpeting tax increases and demagoguing the rich. The man won’t rest till taxpayers are milked dry and the economy devolves back into serfdom.

(John Hinderaker) Conventional wisdom holds that when a president runs for re-election, the campaign is a referendum on his performance during his first four years. I think history confirms that that view is correct. So, given that President Obama has been mired in the doldrums of unpopularity and disapproval for the large majority of his first term, does he have a chance to be re-elected? At U.S. News’ Washington Whispers , Paul Bedard offers some historical context. President Obama’s job approval rating, as measured by Gallup, is now down to 43%, compared to Jimmy Carter’s 51 percent at the same point in his first term. Bedard graphs the Gallup approval ratings of the post-WWII presidents at this stage of their first…

(John Hinderaker) Today the government of Iran mounted an attack on Britain’s embassy compound in Tehran. Its purpose was to produce shock and consternation. The “students” who carried out the attack appeared to be firmly under the control of Ahmadinejad’s regime; the Washington Post quotes a description of the Basij militia members who stormed the compound as “government-controlled rent-a-mobs who are at the beck and call of Iranian security forces.” This is certainly consistent with the way the riot was reported by the FARS News Agency , a government mouthpiece, which portrayed the rioters in a heroic light. The attack on the British embassy was frightening for those inside or nearby. The rioters were perhaps least threatening when they engaged in theft: Here, government thugs tear down the British flag …

It would seem that as long as there is a credible alternative to Romney, GOP voters would much prefer them to the former Massachusetts governor.

There appears to be little in the way of “preparation” that can be accomplished when so much uncertainty is in the air.

(John Hinderaker) A long-time reader asks a reasonable question: if we assume Herman Cain is out of the race–not official as of this evening, but looking like the probably outcome, soon–then where to anti-establishment Republicans go? Will they really coalesce around Newt Gingrich, who has spent decades longer in Washington than Mitt Romney? Our reader writes: Herman Cain is assessing whether to continue with his faltering presidential campaign. Even if he assesses that he should persevere, the allegations of marital infidelity will almost certainly end his time as a force in the…

(John Hinderaker) We are home from taping an MPR Bright Ideas show before a studio audience that included a number of friends–Clark and Sima Griffith, my wife Loree and oldest daughter Laura, podcast partner Brian Ward and his wife Rachel, and many more. Brian got home and posted this on Facebook: Just got back from MPR taping of “Bright Ideas” with John Hinderaker. Bravura performance by the man, making a strong, articulate case for conservatism via the public airwaves. Airs tomorrow at noon on MPR (91.1). Stay tuned until near the end to hear my voice and name invoked. May be the best use of tax dollars since the moon landing. The taping seemed to go pretty well. You can go to MPR’s site and listen live; if you poke around a little after…

If you don't hear much about the Iranian mob which stormed the British embassy earlier today in future news reports, you can probably at least partially blame the Associated Press, which considers the event so unimportant that it's not even part of its main U.S. site's top ten world stories as of 10:25 p.m. ( saved here at host for future reference, fair use and discussion purposes). For those who are curious as to the identification of the ten stories considered more important, here they are: Greece gets $10.7 billion but rescue plan stalls Plane believed carrying Ivory Coast's Gbagbo lands $4.8 billion Peru gold mine project suspended US man leaves jail in Aruba missing case Officials extend voting to 2nd day in Congo …

On December 14, 2010 in Peck Canyon, northwest of Nogales, Arizona, Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was shot dead by a group of illegal border entrants who refused commands to drop their weapons after they were confronted by US agents. The illegals murdered Terry with a gun connected to a failed federal experiment that allowed firearms to be smuggled into Mexico. The family of slain border agent Brian Terry blamed Eric Holder for their son’s death in a recent interview. Now the Obama Administration has sealed the court records on Agent Terry’s murder. Judicial Watch reported: The Obama Administration has abruptly sealed court records containing alarming details of how Mexican drug smugglers murdered a U.S. Border patrol agent with…

One might think from the breaking news that a woman has claimed she had a 13-year affair with presidential candidate Herman Cain that someone is being seriously exposed as a hypocrite. That would be the press. The media can’t deny they continue to display a lousy double standard. For Republican candidates, scandal news is instant. For Democrats, it’s eventual, if at all! Ginger White’s charges sound a lot like Gennifer Flowers in 1992 saying she has a 12-year affair with Bill Clinton. So many in the press pounce on Flowers as unequivocal evidence of the media’s sense of balance. After all, they will remind us, just look how we covered that scandal! Yes, look. Because it’s a wonderful exercise in media disinformation…

( Defense Web ) Fulani Muslim herdsmen along with Muslim soldiers killed at least 45 Berom Christians in Plateau state, Nigeria this past week. Local Christians said Muslim soldiers were joining their fellow Muslims and were shooting and killing Christians. Compass Direct reported, via ROP : Fulani Muslim herdsmen along with Muslim soldiers have killed at least 45 ethnic Berom Christians in Plateau state in the past week, Christians in this northern-central Nigerian town said.
