CNN’s Campbell Brown out — AP laugher reports on CNN’s failure a result of being so unbiased
This one is so ridiculous you just have to say “huhh?”
Campbell Brown has been a dismal failure on CNN and trails not only prime time leader Bill O’Reilly, but also Keith Olbermann and Nancy Grace. Olbermann averages less than a third of the viewers that O’Reilly brings in, but Brown is down around a sixth (~15%) of O’Reilly’s audience.
NewsBusters reports that to her credit, Cambpell Brown has resigned, realizing that there is no indication that her dismal ratings will grow:
Give Campbell Brown credit. Unlike many of her colleagues, who from all appearances will have to be dragged kicking and screaming away from their microphones once their networks can no longer afford to subsidize their dwindling audiences, Brown recognizes that she’s in a business that has to make money.
Brown’s evening CNN show has consistently failed to reach enough viewers to justify itself, and she concluded that there was no realistic hope of recovery. So, unlike a certain CBS Evening News anchor, Campbell Brown is doing the honorable thing, and resigning. She has told the network to find someone who might perform better.
Now, while that’s only a shocker in that CNN and Brown have finally come to their senses and realized that Foxnews and O’Reilly aren’t just experiencing a temporary bump, what is truly amazing about this story is how the always-biased Associated Press have reported this story. The AP is attempting to spin Brown’s failure, along with the rest of CNN”s poorly performing prime-time lineup, as a result of their ‘non-biased’ approach to reporting the news:
Cable news viewers have increasingly turned to edgier, opinionated shows in prime-time, leaving behind CNN and its effort to be non-biased.
I included a link to a copy of the AP story that Newsbusters.org preserved on their website, anticipating that the AP might change that laughable part of their story, which they did.
